Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SREF codes, Midjourney, and GuideSref.

An SREF (Style Reference) code is a seed number used with Midjourney's --sref parameter. It acts as a "style preset" — a single number that encapsulates a complete visual aesthetic, allowing you to apply consistent styles across your AI-generated images without writing lengthy descriptions.
Simply add --sref CODE_NUMBER to your Midjourney prompt. For example:

a beautiful landscape --sref 2213253170 --ar 16:9

You can also combine multiple codes: --sref 91506085 4059834270
Yes! SREF codes are completely free to use with your Midjourney subscription. GuideSref provides free access to browse and discover SREF codes. Some advanced features like unlimited favorites and collections require a Premium subscription.
SREF codes work best with Midjourney v6 and newer. For older versions, results may vary. We recommend using --sv 3 (Style Version 3) for the best style matching with modern SREF codes.
Style Weight controls how strongly the SREF style is applied. Values range from 0 to 1000:
  • --sw 0 — Minimal style influence
  • --sw 100 — Default, balanced
  • --sw 500+ — Strong style dominance
Absolutely! Instead of a code number, you can use an image URL with --sref. Upload your image to Discord or any image host, then use:

your prompt --sref https://your-image-url.jpg --sw 200
--cref lets you maintain consistent character appearance across multiple images. Provide an image URL of your character, and Midjourney will keep the same face/body. Use --cw (Character Weight) to control how much is preserved: 0 for face only, 100 for full character including clothing.
Yes, but some styles may look better at certain ratios. For example, cinematic styles often shine at --ar 16:9 or --ar 2:1, while portrait styles work well at --ar 3:4 or --ar 9:16. Experiment to find what works best for each SREF.
Click the heart icon on any SREF card to add it to your favorites. Free users can save up to 50 favorites. Premium subscribers get unlimited favorites and can organize them into Collections for different projects.
Yes! You can blend styles by using multiple SREF codes in a single prompt:

portrait of a warrior --sref 91506085 4059834270 --sw 150

Midjourney will merge the visual characteristics of both styles. The order and weights can affect the blend, so experiment!
--sref uses a specific code or image to apply a visual style. --style raw is a Midjourney preset that reduces default beautification for more authentic, unfiltered results. They can be used together:

your prompt --sref 2213253170 --style raw --sw 200
